ConVic Ready

One of the hordes (in Siege breaker mode)
If you read my blog and you're not aware that ConVic is this weekend, that puts you in an extremely small subset of the population. Nevertheless, ConVis this weekend, and having been on holidays from work I've been busy at the hobby table! I'll get some whole army shots when I've got some better light (probably at the event), but you can see what sort of progress I've made.

When The Ship Goes Down...

Ships are looking a bit more ship-shape now. The hulls are painted, as are the barrels and ropes. I will pick the ropes out in a bit more white I think, but this is mostly how things will look.
The water isn't done yet, but at least it's blue.

Decisions

ConVic 2016 is coming!
Much like the hiatus of '12 (brought about by Skyrim), this last summer has been a hobby write-off. This time, the culprit is Fallout 4 (A terrible Fallout game but really enjoyable as a stand-alone. Main story sacked. But this isn't a review). My last accomplishment was Dueling Paintbrushes, getting half of an Abyssal Dwarf army completed. Not much has happened since!

Duel of Kings: Day 13

I've got 25 miniatures fully painted. They're not based, however, since I'll be multi-basing. I've gone for a fairly classic look; straight-up fire and brimstone.

Duelling Paintbrushes 5: Duel of Kings!

Pudding Wrestler has just announced the 5 Dueling Paintbrushes competition: Duel of Kings. This is my official deceleration of intent to participate.

Lots of FSA Progress!

Wow! So much to report on over the last week or two. Firstly, my starter box arrived (finally!) and that means I have nearly doubled my existing fleet. I got my first game in against Mass last week. I've painted up the new stuff and I finished my comets!

Dindrenzi Fleet Update

I've managed to complete all of the miniatures that I own so far. This includes:
  • A carrier
  • Three destroyers
  • Three frigates
  • Four corvettes

Dindrenzi Fleet Initial Efforts

The carrier
There seems to be a bit of a frenzy at the Hampton Games Club: Firestorm Armada. I haven't seen a game taken up so quickly in years. Sure, new games have taken off, and the club has seen a lot of new players playing new games since some of the "core" games have started to decline. However, I've not seen so many existing players at Hampton buy into a new game at such a rate. It's pretty exciting, I just hope the excitement last over the summer whilst we're on a break.

Some solid progress

This week I've been working hard to get my Wood Elf Orc army done in time for Rockhammer. I think I've reached the point where I am confident that I can make it there. I have even challenged Dave O'War Duriesmith to a grudge match, as he's bringing his Wood Elves that I know will look nice, so I'm hoping we can have a bit of a supermodel Vs Drag Queen match. Anyway, I plan to discuss the event more afterwards, right now here are some photos of what I've done this week:

Ready for paint

This week has seen my Wood Elf Orcs reach a point where I only need to put brush to model to finish (OK, a bit of glue for effect afterwards, but that's not modelling). A few snaps to fill you in on my progress towards Rockhamer:

Back In The Thick of It

It's back on. The dining room table is covered in sprue, bits of models and sculpting tools. Rockhammer in on the horizon; my first tournament in 18 months, and I'm getting my orcs back in the game!

Pirate Ogre Origins

I had a diary going on Wargamerau whilst I was painting my Ogre Pirates. This was before I started my blog, so it was pretty much a in lieu of this. Alas, the photos were hosted by my old ISP, and have long since been lost from the internet (perhaps someone out there had applied rule 34, but I doubt it). Anyway, I thought I'd put some pictures up of them in case anyone was interested, and because I wanted them out there again. Let me take you back to 2009...

Almost Ready for Action

The gators are done. All they need is a movement tray (which is drying as I type) and they'll be ready for what I hope to be my first game in roughly 18 months. It'll be rusty, but I'm looking forward to it either way.

Gators' progress.

Some pictures of the gators as they are right now. The unit is all but done, however a few details are still missing. This is entirely due to my lack of any red paint, so some orange details I can't do. I'm out of red, and I've never owned an orange before... Sorry, I had no specific lighting for the shots, just room lights.

The whole unit.

Ogre Revival

Last year I bought some Ogre Pirates from Titanforge. Having no time or space to work with them, they've sat unused for a whole year. Until last week...
